Ever wondered what Social Media is and how it could impact your life? Have you questioned the science behind influence scoring?
In June, Tom Dougherty, a political data expert and small business owner interviewed our CEO, Azeem Azhar, for insight on PeerIndex. They talked about the company’s revenue model, policies and Azeem’s personal attitude about the use of the company’s influence score.
The article describes the idea behind social media influence, how it impacts individuals and what the story is behind the science of it all. It also discusses certain issues such as privacy of information, the business model and thoughts about the use of SMI scores outside of the marketing arena. Part three focuses on PeerIndex in particular.
Dougherty explains that, “In addition to associating users with the eight topic communities and individual topics, PeerIndex shows you who you influence and who influences you. The lists are compiled by analysing the interactions between you and all of your online “friends” and the same person can be on both sides.”
He also adds a point of concern regarding PeerIndex’s interface and noted outdated statistics in his profile. Azeem informs that “there are significant new interface features in development and they should be completed within 6 weeks or so, and a more frequently updated interface (Azeem did point out that the data used to calculate scores is updated daily) is part of those upgrades.”
